io Ermoli is an artist in the BFA Dance Program at Florida State University. Entering her final semester, she could not be more excited to conclude her studies in New York City as part of the Arts in NYC Program at FSU. She was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia where she danced, competed, and taught for thirteen years at Gretchen Greene School of Dance under the direction of Trina Dunn. She joined Savannah Stage Company in 2018 as Dance Captain and a Kit Kat Girl for "Cabaret", and choreographed their productions of “Violet the Musical” and “Beauty and the Beast”. Her love and passion for dance have grown throughout the years and expanded to include dance film, conditioning, projection work, and music composition at FSU, with guidance from esteemed professors. io has been very fortunate to collaborate with many wonderful artists at FSU. In 2022, April Chinea and io co-choreographed a tap/contemporary duo, which represented Florida State at the ACDA Southeastern Conference. Recently, her latest projection dance film in collaboration with Katie Rolph, “in flux”, has been accepted and presented at The Digital Graffiti Festival in Alys Beach, FL. This is the second year io and Katie have been attending the festival for their projection dance films that utilize projections, editing, dance, and original scores. Her latest choreographic work, “is it…now?”, premiered at FSU’s Days of Dance and was presented at Open Doors North America last July and MODArts Collective Thread Dance Festival in March. Recently, io and Callee Egan’s comedic dance film, Just Start, screened at the San Francisco Dance Film Festival. She is also in the beginning stages of a lifelong project researching her Japanese/Italian heritage and the traditional cultural dances that already live within her. io hopes to continue to create, collaborate, and boogie into the future.
